How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Golf Cart in The Villages?

Those figures are the local going rate as of 12 August 2026, checked against three independent sources rather than guessed: a published Villages cart-rental guide, a local hire company’s own monthly pricing, and a competitor’s 2026 renter’s guide. Quote the two-seater floor and you get about $450 a month; four-seaters, which are what most people actually want in The Villages, cost more. Weekly hire lands around $175–$275. If you see a number well below that, check whether it is a daily rate being read as a weekly one — that mistake is common enough that we made a version of it ourselves and had to correct it.

The hire cost is only part of it. A standalone cart has to be booked for your exact window, delivered to the house, and collected at the end, which means being there for two appointments you did not plan your trip around. On a stay of a month or more it also means paying every month for something that sits in the driveway the whole time.

So here is the honest answer to the cost question: the cheapest golf cart in The Villages is the one that comes with the house. Twenty-nine of our thirty-one homes include one — it is parked and charged when you arrive, and the only cart charge on the booking is $20 of insurance for the stay. That is for the stay, not per week and not per month. On a three-month winter booking, hiring separately would have been roughly $1,350–$1,800 for a two-seater.

To be clear about what we are and are not: we manage furnished homes in The Villages, we do not hire out carts on their own. If you want a cart without a house, a local rental company is who you need. If you want a cart because you are coming to stay here, book a home that includes one and there is nothing separate to arrange at either end.

Where a cart is included there is a $20 insurance charge for the stay and a short liability waiver to sign — the access code is emailed to you automatically once it is done. Drivers must be 25 or older and hold a valid licence. Gas carts take non-ethanol fuel only and should come back full; electric carts plug into a standard garage outlet, so leave it charging overnight and you start every morning with full range, typically 25–35 miles.

Carts differ by home. Some are two-seaters and some are four, some gas and some electric, and some are street-legal LSVs while others are standard carts. That last distinction matters more than people expect: a standard cart is fine on the path network and on roads posted at 30 mph or under, but it cannot go on US-441 or SR-44. Tell us your dates and we will confirm exactly which cart is at that address before you book, rather than letting you find out on arrival.

What you get for it is the reason the cart matters at all. The Villages has over 90 miles of dedicated cart paths, with bridges and tunnels built so you never cross fast traffic, reaching every town square, the executive and championship courses, the recreation centers and most of the shopping plazas. Of the 29 homes here, 14 are closest to Eastport and 5 each to Sawgrass Grove, Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood Paddock Square. Each home shows the road drive time to its nearest square — cart-path routes are not the same as road routes, so treat that as a guide rather than a cart time.

The rest of the money, before checkout shows it to you: cleaning is charged once per stay rather than per night — $160 on most of the homes and a little lower on a few — $20 golf-cart insurance where a cart is included, and $50 per Lifestyle ID request form if you want the pools, recreation centers, pickleball and golf. One form covers up to two IDs and two is the maximum issued per home. There is no security deposit; we do not take them. Booking direct with us also avoids the platform service fee Airbnb and Vrbo add at checkout.
